Cialis for Bodybuilding: What Every Bodybuilder Must Know
Having more blood flowing in there might make it feel bigger. More blood flowing to the penis can give you a firmer erection that may alter the sexual experience for your and your partner.
Does Cialis make you bigger? What the science says
The effect Cialis and similar medications is, by now, pretty well established. But does it do anything for that other source of sexual anxiety, namely size? Can Cialis really make you bigger?
As welcome as that may or may not be, it just isn’t the case. Cialis and similar ED medications affect the blood flow to your penis, not its physical size.
Yet people taking medication for erectile dysfunction sometimes get a feeling of being bigger. So what’s happening here?
First, we need a closer look at how medications like Cialis work.
What is Cialis?
Cialis is the brand name for a drug called tadalafil that, like other ED medications, is a PDE5 inhibitor.
What does that mean? In short, PDE5 inhibitors are a group of medications that improve blood flow to certain tissues, including the penis. (Although they were initially developed to treat cardiovascular conditions, like high blood pressure).
Cialis comes in a few different doses: 10mg, the recommended starting dosage; 20mg, the highest available dose; and a daily 2.5 mg or 5mg dosage. The daily form of Cialis is designed for those with ED who are looking to have more spontaneous sex without the medication planning.
How does Cialis work?
Cialis increases blood flow to the tissue of your penis. To get a little scientific, PDE5 inhibitors block something called cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5, or PDE5 for short. This is an enzyme that’s responsible for regulating the flow of blood to the penis (and other areas of the body).
By inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, Cialis can increase blood flow to the penis, helping you get and keep an erection when you are sexually aroused.
This last point is important. You do still need to be sexually aroused for Cialis, and other PDE5 inhibitors to do their thing. Usually, Cialis will start to work within 30 to 60 minutes, so take it at least half an hour before you plan to have sex.
Is effective? In many cases Cialis can be effective. In one study looking at Tadalafil 10 mg and 20 mg, 71% and 84% reported improved erections compared to 33% in the group that received a placebo.
Does Cialis make you bigger?
Now you know a little more about how Cialis works you can see why Cialis wouldn’t increase penis size.
By relaxing the blood vessels around the penis, Cialis and other PDE5 inhibitors may help you get and maintain an erection, but this process will do nothing for your size.
Having more blood flowing in there might make it feel bigger. More blood flowing to the penis can give you a firmer erection that may alter the sexual experience for your and your partner.
What about lasting longer?
Another common Cialis question is whether taking Cialis will make you last longer before reaching orgasm. Again, this isn’t something Cialis or other PDE5 inhibitors were developed to do.
As you now know, they work by increasing the ability of blood to flow into the soft, erectile tissue of your penis. This makes it easier for you to get and keep an erection.
This means they usually won’t have any effect on the amount of time that you can have sex before you ejaculate. There also shouldn’t be any impact on the amount of sensitivity you experience during sex.
That said, there are several studies out there that suggest that PDE5 inhibitors (of which Cialis is one) can help with premature ejaculation. One piece of research analyzed various studies, and though it concluded that PDE5 inhibitors did perform better than a placebo for treating premature ejaculation, urged caution about the methodology of some of these studies.
If you’re concerned about your stamina, remember that you’re far from alone. If premature ejaculation is a major issue for you, treatment is available and you should discuss this with your doctor.
FAQ
Does Cialis Make You Last Longer?
Cialis does not make you last longer in bed. Strictly speaking, if you’re concerned about premature ejaculation and are interested in taking Cialis to extend the duration of your sexual experiences and delay ejaculation, Cialis does not make any claims about helping users extend the time before ejaculation.
No well-designed studies suggest Cialis can make users last longer in bed as an off-label benefit of the drug. However, there is one important way in which Cialis can potentially make you last longer. Suppose you aren’t lasting as long as you’d like in bed because you’re losing your erection without ejaculating. In that case, Cialis can help you maintain your erection long enough for a satisfying sexual experience for you and your partner.
Since the inability to maintain an erection is a symptom of erectile dysfunction, which Cialis is meant to treat, this drug can help you overcome this issue and ensure your erection will last long enough to enjoy a sexual experience fully. The effectiveness of a Cialis pill also lasts longer than other ED treatments. It’s best taken 60 minutes before sexual activity, with efficacy peaking after about 120 minutes. In some patients, the effect may last up to 36 hours. This makes it easier to enjoy spontaneous sex without having to plan when taking your ED pill strictly.
Does Viagra Make You Bigger?
Viagra does not make you bigger. However, while Viagra won’t make your penis size increase permanently, you may find that your penis seems bigger while erect because Viagra helps blood flow to your penis so that your erection is very firm.
The firmer your erection, the larger your penis may seem while it is erect. While there may be pills that claim to increase penis size, no pill can achieve this. Penis size is determined during puberty and, after that time, doesn’t change again in adulthood. Given this fact, it’s best to stay away from any pills that claim to increase penis size permanently. At best, they won’t work, and at worst, they may have adverse side effects and be unsafe.
However, anyone who has seen a penis go from flaccid to erect can attest that the penis becomes visibly larger as blood rushes to it to make it firm for intercourse. If you have erectile dysfunction and have difficulty getting or maintaining a firm enough erection for sex, taking Viagra and experiencing a firm erection may make it feel like your penis is more prominent, thanks to the extra blood flow.
Cialis works by increasing blood flow to the penis. It belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors that affect the sequence of events that need to happen in the body to lead to smooth muscle relaxation that allows blood to flow to the penis to create an erection.
Another well-known erectile dysfunction drug, Viagra, also belongs to this same class of drugs. As their name suggests, these drugs work by blocking an enzyme called PDE5 responsible for regulating blood flow to various body parts, including the penis. When the PDE5 enzyme is inhibited, blood flow to the penis can increase, helping you get an erection and maintain it long enough to enjoy a sexual experience when you are sexually aroused.
Being sexually aroused is an important step: sexual stimulation is required, and Cialis won’t cause the penis to become erect just by taking the drug. The same is true for Viagra and any other PDE5 inhibitors. It’s very rare to experience a persistent erection that won’t go away after taking Cialis. It would be best if you generally were turned on for that to happen.
How Long Does It Take for Cialis to Work?
It takes Cialis at least half an hour to work. Typically, it can take between 30 and 60 minutes for the effects to kick in. If you’re planning to have sex, it’s a good idea to take at least 30 minutes before intercourse. Once you’ve taken Cialis, you must be sexually stimulated to experience an erection.
Contrary to what some people think about PDE5 inhibitors such as Cialis and Viagra, you won’t automatically get an erection once the effects of the pill kick in. Instead, Cialis works by inhibiting the effects of an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5), leading to smooth muscle relaxation in the penis that allows blood to flow into it during arousal resulting in an erection.
It takes between 30 and 60 minutes for the smooth muscle relaxing effects to kick in, but you’ll still need to become aroused for the blood to flow to the penis. That means you don’t have to worry about any unexpected and persistent erections just from taking Cialis. A typical dose will last about 36 hours, so turning it on at any time in that window can result in an erection.
Cialis is a treatment for erectile dysfunction. Also known by the generic name tadalafil, Cialis belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Another well-known erectile dysfunction treatment in the same category is Viagra.
Cialis and other PDE5 inhibitors work by impacting the events that need to happen in the body to cause the smooth muscle relaxation that allows blood to flow to the penis, resulting in an erection. If the smooth muscles in the penis can’t relax properly, adequate blood flow can’t occur, and the penis won’t become hard and firm enough for intercourse. It’s important to note that Cialis, like other ED drugs belonging to the same class, won’t cause an erection on its own.
Cialis doesn’t cause blood to flow to the penis. Instead, it inhibits an enzyme that regulates blood flow to the penis and other parts of the body, allowing blood to fill the chambers of the penis only when you are aroused. Taking Cialis won’t give you an erection, but it will make it possible to get one once you are turned on. Cialis takes about 30-60 minutes to kick in, and a typical dose can last about 36 hours, so you’ll be able to get an erection when you’re aroused any time in that window.
If you’re looking for help with ED specifically, Cialis is one of several options available here in Canada.

Cialis for Bodybuilding: What Every Bodybuilder Must Know
Cialis is the brand name for a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor called tadalafil. PDE5 inhibitor drugs are primarily for treating erectile dysfunction (ED).
Interestingly though, some take Cialis for bodybuilding instead.
Is there really any merit to this practice?
Taking Cialis for fitness purposes is a recent discovery that’s making waves in the worlds of bodybuilding and athletics—and we’ll help you decide whether you should try it firsthand.
Cialis: A Brief Overview
Most PDE5 inhibitors only work if taken about 30 minutes to an hour before engaging in sexual activity. Cialis was one of the very first that works beyond that timeframe (1).
It can also help with the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) since it relaxes the smooth muscles of the prostate gland. This results in relief in BPH symptoms.
Cialis can be taken either on-demand or daily. On-demand is taking Cialis 30 minutes before sexual activity, much like any other ED drug.
The daily option is proven safe, with a standard recommended dose of 5mg (2). This dose can be reduced to match individual responses to the drug, as well as the goal for Cialis use.
Cialis for Bodybuilding?
Some people, fitness enthusiasts and athletes especially, found another use for Cialis—bodybuilding and performance enhancement.
They found that the enhanced blood flow to the penis from Cialis use can also work in other muscles of the body. This effect has great implications during bodybuilding sessions and training.
During workouts and training, the muscles work actively. This increases their demand for oxygen and nutrients. Muscle contractions also produce many byproducts. These must be removed to reduce problems like cramps.
Removal is also necessary to keep the muscles working normally, without any substance buildup getting in the way. All these requirements can be met by simply increasing the blood flow to the muscles.
Cialis promotes increased blood flow to various muscles in the body. This creates a greater “pump” during workouts and training.
More nutrients and oxygen are delivered to the muscles. This helps the muscles to work for longer. Bodybuilders, in turn, can train harder and for longer (3). The result is gaining the benefits of workouts sooner.
This is believed to be a result of the nitric oxide (NO) levels enhanced by the presence of Cialis. The increase in NO can help with training to failure and total weight lifted.
These effects are best seen when doing resistance training.
Another way that Cialis helps in bodybuilding is by raising testosterone levels. It prevents testosterone from being converted into estrogen. As you know, the male hormone is crucial in ensuring optimal muscle gain.
Cialis’ Other Advantages
Aside from offering effective treatment for ED and BPH, as well as serving as a good pre-workout option for bodybuilders, Cialis has other benefits to offer. These include:
- A significant decrease in inflammation
- Anti-depressant effects
- Prevention of plaque build-up in the arteries
- Better blood pressure regulation
Cialis is also a better choice among the other drugs in its class (4). It has fewer side effects and requires a much lower dose to be effective compared to others such as Viagra. Moreover, food doesn’t affect Cialis’ rate of absorption.
Cialis’ effects also last much longer. The drug’s active components have a half-life of 17.5 hours. That means that the effects of increased blood flow can be experienced for hours.
This same longer half-life may be an issue for some people though. The prolonged action on the blood vessels might cause some discomfort.
Another area of concern is when taking Cialis on a regular or daily basis, as it may cause dependence. This can have a few negative effects on some people. Hence, caution is a must.
Cialis for Fitness Goals?
Cialis is an effective and safe drug for ED and BPH. It’s also found to be helpful in bodybuilding with its secondary effect of promoting increased blood flow to the muscles.
Bodybuilders may find that they can train harder and longer, reaping benefits sooner when they use Cialis as a pre-workout regimen.
However, this secondary effect of Cialis for bodybuilding has not yet been well studied or tested for safety. If you have questions or insights to share, feel free to tell us through the comments section. Still, if you are worried about something, it’s best to consult with a medical professional instead.

Tadalafil Dosage for Bodybuilding: How Much Is Enough?
Cialis, a brand of Tadalafil, which is a PDE5 inhibitor functioning also as a penile erection inducer, is fast becoming well-known as an alternative to current steroids used for bodybuilding.
But the question is, if it is indeed effective for muscle gain, what is the proper Tadalafil dosage for bodybuilding? Below is information that you may need to know in this regard and other related matters.
Basic Mechanisms of Action of Tadalafil
As you may have known, the ability of Tadalafil and other chewable treatments such as BlueChew are most welcome to people with that condition, but you may be in the dark about its mechanism of action.
Does that mechanism of action benefit bodybuilding purposes as well? Apparently, the answer is yes.
Without referring to the appropriate dosage of Tadalafil for bodybuilding, the drug’s basic actions are:
- Relaxes muscles – for ED patients, that is relaxation of certain penile muscles
- Increases blood flow – for penis erection, that is increasing the amount of blood entering the organ
These are the same Tadalafil mechanism of action taken advantage of by bodybuilding enthusiasts because, according to experts, the increased blood flow resulting from Tadalafil consumption allows users to:
So, if you will use Tadalafil, and it works well for you, and you are using the perfect Cialis dosage suitable for bodybuilding, you will feel more energetic and perhaps, more motivated due to increased blood flow to your muscles.
Cialis Dosage Good for Bodybuilding – Research
Fortunately, there are academic and clinical studies to support the efficacy of Tadalafil, and yes, out of these studies, we have a substantial scientific basis for manufacturers to continue producing Cialis supplements for bodybuilding.
Some studies give a hint on the amount of Tadalafil to use for bodybuilding, as they didn’t test the drug for such purpose but only for ED treatment. Nonetheless, the results give a reasonable estimate of the dose for bodybuilding.
5-mg Tadalafil for Improved Lean Mass
In one study, participating ED patients showed reduced waist circumference after a two-month treatment. The conclusion was: that daily Tadalafil improved lean body mass.
The participants were given a daily dose of 5 mg, and “as needed” for sex, they were given 20 mg each time.
Lean body mass refers to the amount of weight one carries in his/her body that is not fat. One of your goals as a bodybuilder is to drop weight while keeping the same body mass.
Improved Muscle Function
Another study that provides evidence for the possible effectiveness of Tadalafil for muscle improvement is the one done for checking the effect of Sildenafil (Viagra), a drug that has the same mechanism as that of Tadalafil (Cialis).
The conclusion derived from this study suggests that Tadalafil increases fat metabolism and protein synthesis, improves muscle dystrophy, and enhances muscle function.
However, the study did not specify any Tadalafil dose for bodybuilding purposes.
Tadalafil Side Effects
As with Viagra and other ED drugs, such as Vardenafil and Avanafil, Tadalafil exhibits the side effects stated here.
As long as you don’t overdose on any of these drugs or take them more than once a day, these side effects are not severe, and you are safe.
- Flushing – the result of increased blood flow to different parts of the body
- Headache or lightheadedness – a result of dilation of blood vessels and also increased blood flow
- Stuffy nose – also due to the action of Cialis on blood vessels.
These are normal reactions to the drug, which disappear after a while, and don’t have that serious intensity that will endanger your health.
For Tadalafil dosage for bodybuilding and even for sex enhancement purposes, stay within the recommended limits set by your physician.

No, it’s also sold as liquid tadalafil, and it is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper that way.
The opinions expressed above are my personal opinion.
I have absolutely no affiliation with any supplement companies, and have never had any vested interest in any supplements of any kind.

Yes, liquid cialis and liquid viagra are available from certain sites, although I am not sure if the liquid versions have the same efficacy. I am guessing that the “amputation” reference was said slightly tongue-in-cheek. the danger of stacking the two would be an increased risk of priapism, which might necessitate the need for drainage of blood from Mr. Johnson. If the drainage were not done soon enough, the blood supply could be cut off resulting in necrosis to Mr. Johnson.
