Tomorrow is our field trip to St. Helena’s Church in Amite.

The children are responsible for reading ALL of their Reading tests from now on. PLEASE make sure that they are reading at home. They should be reading their homework by themselves, this includes the directions.

We are now at 6 children in our classroom.

This is Dr. Seuss’s birthday week. We will be doing various things as a school to celebrate him. Friday is his birthday. Your child may dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character.

Please make sure that your child does their homework EACH NIGHT.

There will be a Math Test on Wednesday, 2/28. Please make sure that your child can do the Math worksheets I have sent home by themselves. If you need any help with the homework, please contact me on Dojo and I will help you out. You can also send me a note the next day and I will respond back. Your children are working REALLY hard, especially in Math, and it shows in all the progress they have made! I am very proud of them all!

Next week is Mardi Gras week, St. Valentine’s Day, and Ash Wednesday. I hope that you all have a safe and happy break. When we come back, we will continue to work hard. If your child is not doing homework and not listening in class, then they will have work to do during Fun Friday while everyone else is having Free Center Time and Movie Time.

Next week begins Lent. Lent is a wonderful time for reflection. I have talked with the children this week about Lenten promises. When they come back, they will come up with their one thing that they will not do for the 40 days of Lent. However, I will also ask them to come up with something they can do for other people during this time. We have been working on kindness since we came back from Christmas/New Years Break. I want the children to focus on not only kind acts that they can do for others but also FINDING kindness in others.

Please check with your child EVERY Friday. Sometimes I send home folders. The folder might have something important in it, or it could be because they did not have the greatest day.

There are several bad colds going around. I know that I caught one and my husband caught another. Please make sure that if your child has a fever, they are taking medicine and/or have seen a doctor.

Thank you all for all the lovely Valentine’s! The children enjoyed it all!

Please check monthly for your child’s snack day on their claendar.

The work in class is getting harder. If your child comes home with a 3, then please talk with them about this. Some of the children are talking/playing during lessons. Some of them are doing this during tests.

The children are now responsible for reading the ENTIRE reading test to themself. I have been walking around to help them on words they can’t sound out. Their reading scores may go down a little as they begin to read the questions to themselves. We have been working on this for months, though. They have been reading parts of the test to themselves for months.
